ARTS LOAN FUND – ROLLING DEADLINE
This Emergency Loan will support arts and culture nonprofits and fiscally sponsored organizations in the eleven San Francisco Bay Area counties. Organizations can apply for these low-interest loans to cover basic expenses such as staff salaries, artist payments, rent and other operating costs during this challenging time. Loans can also be used to cover costs associated with re-opening and/or presenting programming remotely such as equipment, software, etc. Preference is given to small and mid-sized arts and culture organizations (with budgets under $2 million).
NEH HUMANITIES COLLECTIONS AND REFERENCE RESOURCES GRANT – APPLY BY MAY 21
HCRR advances scholarship, education, and public programming in the humanities by helping libraries, archives, museums, and historical organizations across the country steward important collections of books and manuscripts, photographs, sound recordings and moving images, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, art and material culture, and digital objects. Projects may address the holdings or activities of a single institution or may involve partnerships between organizations.
NEH CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY RESILIENCE GRANT – APPLY BY MAY 21
The Cultural and Community Resilience program supports community-based efforts to mitigate climate change and COVID-19 pandemic impacts, safeguard cultural resources, and foster cultural resilience through identifying, documenting, and/or collecting cultural heritage and community experience. The program prioritizes projects from disadvantaged communities in the United States or its jurisdictions, and NEH encourages applications that employ inclusive methodologies.
NEH RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT GRANT – APPLY BY MAY 21
The Research and Development program supports projects that address major challenges in preserving or providing access to humanities collections and resources. This program supports projects at all stages of development, from early planning and stand-alone studies to advanced implementation. Projects may produce any combination of laboratory datasets, guidelines for standards, open access software tools, workflow and equipment specifications, widely used metadata schema, or other products.
CALIFORNIA MUSEUM GRANT PROGRAM – APPLY BY MAY 22
The Museum Grant Program has approximately 27.7 million available and may be awarded over multiple rounds depending on the competitive pool. Funding shall be prioritized for museums severely affected by COVID-19 and that serve historically underserved communities or students subject to Title I of the Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act. CULTURAL HERITAGE DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PROJECT – APPLY BY MAY 31
Over $1 million in funding is available to institutions with collections in California to strengthen emergency preparedness. This state-wide initiative aims to strengthen emergency readiness for institutions with collections, including archives, museums, libraries, historical societies and sites, nonprofits, higher education institutions, local governments, and Native American Tribal governments. Maximum award amounts are $15,000, with options for emergency preparedness support, including disaster planning development, recovery kits, training, supplies and equipment, and more.
CAC GRANT: ARTS & CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS GENERAL OPERATING SUPPORT – APPLY BY JUNE 6
The Arts & Cultural Organizations General Operating Support grant program provides direct funding to arts and cultural organizations in support of ongoing operations. This grant supports the well-being of California’s cultural vitality by helping sustain a robust and diverse arts workforce and infrastructure. Funds may be used to support any eligible expenses associated with the general operations of an arts or cultural organization, including but not limited to rent, utilities, and staff salaries.
NEH GRANT: PUBLIC IMPACT PROJECTS AT SMALLER ORGANIZATIONS – APPLY BY JUNE 12
These awards support a variety of activities that focus on enriching interpretive strategies, strengthening interpretive skill sets and enhancing community engagement with public-facing programs to assist in expanding impact, reach, and excellence of public programs. Awards are up to $25,000.
ARTS IN CALIFORNIA PARKS: LOCAL PARKS GRANT PROGRAM – APPLY BY JUNE 14
This new multi-year grant program intends to create local community connections to California’s rich and diverse cultural history and natural areas outside of California’s state park boundaries. Eligible projects will enhance connections to local cultural history, local parks, open space or natural areas through community events, programming or installations that help to build sustainable community connections, health and well-being. The Local Parks Grants Program will be managed and administered by Parks California.

MUSEUM WORKERS RELIEF FUND – ONGOING LOTTERY
Museum Workers Speak recently re-launched the Museum Workers Relief Fund and kicked off a new round of fundraising. Applications are open to any and all museum workers in the U.S. who have been laid off, furloughed, or otherwise severely impacted by Covid-19. Applicants have a chance to receive $500 in aid through a lottery system.
ARTS LEADERS OF COLOR EMERGENCY FUND
Set up by the Arts Administrators of Color Network this fund supports US-based BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists AND administrators (consultants, facilitators, box office staff, seasonal/temporary employees, etc.) who have been financially impacted due to COVID-19. Apply to receive funds or donate.
CALIFORNIA GRANTS PORTAL
The California State Library is excited to announce the launch of the California Grants Portal. Billions of dollars in grant opportunities from dozens of state departments and agencies can now be easily accessed and opportunities can be filtered by keywords or categories. The Grants Portal also makes it possible to search by eligible applicant types, including nonprofit organizations, public agencies, businesses, tribal governments, and others.
