About the Theme
Join us in Oakland's Jack London Square in 2023 to explore the concept of On Common Ground, March 8–11, 2023. Museums and museum professionals have experienced extraordinary changes and opportunities in the last few years. After a virtual conference in 2021 and five mini-conferences across California in 2022, CAM is looking forward to gathering together once more with our colleagues on common ground again.

Preliminary Program
All case studies and panel sessions are included in conference registration. Pre-conference Workshops, Dialogue Lunches, post-conference tours*, and networking events will require additional registration and fee, with limited capacity. Any additional costs are listed in the conference program. This preliminary program is subject to change and additions – check back as details are finalized!

*Saturday, March 11 will include a schedule of special post-conference tours at local museums hosted by institutional members of CAM’s 2023 Host Committee. Registration is required; additional cost. Details will be announced soon!

2023 Preliminary Program

Wednesday, March 8, 2023

There are a myriad of pre-conference activities scheduled for Wednesday, March 8. These are excellent opportunities to kick off your conference experience for an added cost (refer to costs listed for each itinerary item). You may add tickets for these events to your new or existing registration. Tickets may be available to purchase onsite, pending availability. Space is limited.

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM CAMaraderie Lunch

Registration required; additional cost. Not included in regular conference registration. Consider adding this lunch between pre-conference workshops!

Cost: $35

Does the meme “nobody ever made a best friend during a webinar” resonate with you? Though we still rely on many digital collaboration platforms, connecting with peers in-person is an essential part of professional development and networking. There is something magical about breaking bread with a colleague and forming a personal connection. Reboot your relationships with fellow museum workers over a buffet lunch. Catch up with an old friend, or make a new one!

5:00 PM – 6:30 PM Host Committee Welcome Reception

Location: Waterfront Restaurant & Patio

Cost: Free (registration required)

Relax and mingle with colleagues before the conference switches into high gear on Thursday morning with panels, discussions and case studies. This reception will take place onsite at the conference hotel in a flexible indoor-outdoor space. Afterwards, depart for dinner on your own at one of Oakland’s amazing restaurants.
