Description: Museum Educators of Southern California (MESC) invites museum professionals across California for an excursion throughout downtown Los Angeles, as we ride the LA Metro to 3 different mystery sites. Experience Los Angeles, connect to one another, and explore new ways to interpret and collaborate through this curated experience.

Resources Center of the Autry Museum of the American West

Location: Resources Center, Autry Museum of the American West (Burbank)

Description: Tour the Autry’s new collections-care, research, and education center, opening in 2021. Autry staff will share considerations for the stewardship of its Native collections and welcoming audiences, including Native community members, students, and scholars—all to transform the 21st-century function of museum facilities and programming.

Downtown Tour: A Trip Through LA History

Location: LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes

Cost: $10

Description: Take a trip through Los Angeles history by exploring the grounds and exhibits of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. Located in the city's first "skyscraper' built in 1883, you'll visit the museum's historical exhibits and new Afro-Latino show while viewing the museum's two buildings, paseo walkway and Village complex.

 Downtown Tour: Little Tokyo History Through the JANM Collection

Location: Japanese American National Museum

Cost: $25

Description: Explore the history of Little Tokyo through the collection of the Japanese American National Museum (JANM). We’ll start off with an architectural tour of the museum’s historic building, formerly the Los Angeles Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, followed by a behind-the-scenes look at artifacts that showcase the rich history of the neighborhood.

Westside Tour: From Michelangelo to de Kooning

Location: J. Paul Getty Museum

Cost: $10

Description: Begin with a behind-the-scenes visit to the Getty’s Paintings Conservation Studio to learn about an infamous work by abstract expressionist Willem de Kooning that is currently in the studio. Afterwards, explore an exhibition of rare drawings by Michelangelo from a single collection in the Netherlands with the Getty’s Senior Curator of Drawings.

Westside Tour: Curator-led tour of El Sueño Americano | The American Dream: Photographs by Tom Kiefer

Location: Skirball Cultural Center

Cost: $10

Description: Responding to the dehumanizing treatment migrants face in detention, Tom Kiefer carefully arranged and photographed objects seized and discarded by border officials. Moved by the untold stories these objects embody, Kiefer commemorates them in photographs akin to portraits, salvaging and preserving traces of human journeys cut short.

Westside Tour: Noah’s Ark Behind the Scenes / First Look at the Nursery

Location: Skirball Cultural Center

Description: Join us for a tour of Noah’s Ark and a preview of the new Nursery. Inspired by the ancient flood story, which has parallels in diverse cultures around the world, Noah’s Ark is a fully immersive gallery featuring hundreds of handcrafted animals, all made from recycled materials and everyday objects.

Westside Tour: Behind-the-Scenes of the Anne Exhibit

Location: Museum of Tolerance

Cost: $10

Description: Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum of Tolerance’s Anne exhibit, an extraordinary new immersive exhibit on the life of Anne Frank. Anne’s story, told in her own words, comes to life through rare artifacts, documents, and photographs. Learn little known facts about her time in hiding. Also, hear from Holocaust Survivor Betty Cohen who was hidden in Holland.

Westside Tour: Curator-Led Tour of Paul McCarthy: Head Space, Drawings 1963–2019

Description: Gain a new perspective on the work of legendary Los Angeles-based artist Paul McCarthy in the first comprehensive survey in the United States of his drawings and works on paper.

Exposition Park Tour: Performing Arts and Dinosaur Puppets at the Natural History Museum of LA County

Location: Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC)

Description: NHMLAC’s Performing Arts Program would like to invite you to roar in our T.rex! Description: This tour is an overview of LACMA's iconic outdoor works: Chris Burden's Urban Light, Michael Heizer's Levitated Mass, and Robert Irwin's Primal Palm Garden.
