The Museum of Craft and Design (MCD) is the only museum in San Francisco devoted to craft and design. Founded in 2004, MCD showcases designers, makers, and artists through a distinctive series of craft and design-focused exhibitions and award-winning public programs.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Curatorial Director and in conjunction with Exhibitions and other Museum departments, the Registrar is responsible for ensuring the safe handling and storage of artwork; coordinating the various aspects of borrowing objects for exhibitions; scheduling and overseeing delivery, preparation, installation and dispersal of art objects; and maintaining inventories and related billing and documentation to support departmental budgets. Note that MCD does not have a permanent collection so all works under Registrar’s care will be loans from artists, lenders, and institutions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay:  $30/hr.

Schedule: Full time, non-exempt. Hybrid work schedule: remote M/T; in-person W/Th/F. In-person M-F during installation periods.
