The Head of Registration's primary responsibility is developing and overseeing registration operations for SFMOMA's active and varied program for one of the most significant collections of modern and contemporary art. The incumbent plays a central role in reimagining and implementing responsive registration methods that track contemporary art practices, cross-departmental integrations, and the museum's dynamic program to ensure and further the stewardship of modern and contemporary art. The incumbent directs the department's activities, including oversight of exhibition and collections-related budgeting, ownership, shipping, packing, and risk and change management for exhibitions, accessions/deaccessions, outgoing/incoming loans, including the Fisher Collection. This position reports to the Director of Collections and is a vital partner to colleagues in Collections, Exhibitions and Program Management, Design, Curatorial, Legal, Facilities and Operations, Security, and Education and Community Engagement to realize integrated collections stewardship, collaborative collections research, and dynamic public programming.
