Reporting to the Director, Collections Management, the Head Registrar will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing and maintaining best practices for collection care including, but not limited to, acquisition, temporary loans, and collection databases. The Head Registrar will establish and maintain detailed records of the permanent collection, exhibitions, loans, packing and shipping information, import/export documents, and fine art insurance details. This position will ensure that these files are maintained in accordance with the museum retention policy.
The Head Registrar will also oversee administration of the loan program including temporary exhibition loans, potential acquisitions, and outgoing loans from the collection.
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in art, art history, museum studies, arts administration, or a closely related field is required
- Ten (10) years of verifiable art museum registration
