Exhibition Conservator (Fixed Term)

LACMA is looking for an Exhibition Conservator, who will focus on preventive conservation of LACMA’s permanent collection, which spans the history of art from the fifteenth-century through contemporary works in all mediums. This position must be able to work with prints, drawings, photographs, manuscripts, artist illustrated books, Asian scrolls and screens, and other mediums as necessitated by the permanent collection. The Exhibition Conservator will examine, assess, write reports on condition, and monitor works of art in the museum’s care, such as paintings, textiles, objects, and paper. The Exhibition Conservator will supervise and mentor a pre-program conservation fellow. This is a three-year position for a post-graduate conservator.

The annual salary is $67,000.00


  • Master’s degree (M.A or M.S.) or equivalent in conservation.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and other software applications
  • Knowledge of digital asset management system preferred
