The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) seeks a Director of Gallery Learning. Reporting to the AVP, Adult Education & Public Programs, the Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining best practices in gallery teaching with an emphasis on training and evaluating volunteers who provide school and public tours.

Some duties include: Oversight of the docent program including researching, developing, and implementing training for school and public tour docents; development of evaluation methodologies, strategies for innovative gallery tours, talks, courses, and programs that engage the museum’s diverse audiences; development and monitoring of budgets; and supervision of staff.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Art History, or related field, though a Master’s Degree in Museum Education, Museum Studies, or Art History is preferred; minimum 5–8 years in a related position with increasing responsibility; management of strategic planning, budget, and supervision experience; familiarity with best practices in the field of museum education, including experience with curriculum writing, design and implementation.
