Bakersfield Museum of Art (BMoA) seeks a self-directed, creative individual with Museum or similar work experience to develop and present exhibitions, direct the Museum’s small Curatorial Department, and actively manage the Museum’s Permanent Collection. A successful candidate will thrive in our museum environment, where ideas and innovation are encouraged.

The Museum Curator of Collections and Exhibitions should have the ability and experience to develop, propose and organize exhibitions featuring California art and artists that will expand the museum’s reach to new and diverse audiences.  The Curator should be an inspiring thinker dedicated to leading the Curatorial Department and collaborating with colleagues across departments to conceptualize innovative programs that will assist in the interpretation of museum exhibitions. The individual must have a passion for the arts and bring new and creative ideas and perspectives that will further enhance the museum’s status as a leader and innovator among similar-sized California institutions.

Salary and benefits commensurate with the experience/education of the candidate ($50,000 - $70,000 annually)
