The Communications Specialist supports the marketing and communications department, with a primary focus on public relations coordination and outreach to media. The position’s primary responsibilities include: coordinating press previews, managing media requests and arranging interviews, pitching and placing stories for exhibitions and programs, gathering press kits, writing press materials, and managing and updating press lists. The candidate should have a passion for building and maintaining relationships with media and following news trends, and should be excited to think creatively about new ways to engage with media and influencers. The position will play a crucial role in shaping new ways to connect with press both in-person and virtually, as well as exciting new opportunities to promote the Museum’s priorities such as the newly-revamped gardens, upcoming exhibitions Mothership Voyage Into Afrofuturism and Edith Heath: A Life in Clay, and our future dining destination, Town Fare by Tanya Holland.
