The Stanford Archaeology Center seeks a full-time objects conservator to join the Stanford University Archaeology Collections for a one-year Institute of Museum and Library Services grant-funded Detailed Conservation Assessment project. The Associate Conservator will be responsible for conservation assessment, documentation, reporting, and preventive care of SUAC’s cultural collections, which include archaeological and ethnographic art and artifacts. The Associate Conservator should have advanced knowledge of profession-wide principles and methods used in the preservation and conservation of cultural objects. Duties include examination, condition reporting, documentation, assessment, and preventative care. The Associate Conservator is expected to contribute to the development of improved understanding of the collection and methodologies for its long-term preservation and is required to remain current with research and advances in the conservation field.
