Presenters: Stevy Acevedo, Historical Museum Curator, Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage; Daniel Estrada, Museum Education Coordinator, Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage

Beginning her career as an Archaeologist, Stevy Acevedo had an interest in preserving and presenting archaeological finds which led her to the realm of museums. She realized how museums offered a unique platform to bridge the gap between the past and the present, making history accessible and engaging to a wide and diverse audience. With over 10 years’ experience, Stevy has been the Curator at the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage since 2019.  As a Native Californian, she received her bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly Pomona in Anthropology with an emphasis in Cultural Resource Management and her masters from Eastern Illinois University in Historical Administration. In her role within museums, she is dedicated to offering a wide range of programs, exhibits, and resources that engage and educate, fostering a deeper appreciation for history to visitors.

Daniel Estrada’s desire to work in museums began with attending a writing workshop at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The workshop left him with an enlightened passion to bring unique educational experiences to the community outside of an academic setting. This spark of passion led him to the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage, where he is now the full-time Museum Education Coordinator. With a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, Daniel tackles educational programming through a different lens and seeks to curate new and exciting experiences for museum visitors. As a former theatre actor, Daniel is more than thrilled to treat every program as a performance stage with the hope that he can inspire audiences, young and old, to become lifelong learners.

The mission of the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage is to collect, preserve and recognize Arcadia’s heritage; to create a shared identity for a diverse community; and to celebrate the City’s rich history with exhibits and educational programs that will encourage community involvement.
