Year of the California Museum Resolution Introduced by Assemblymember John Laird--March 2006

On February 23, 2006, at the closing reception of the 2006 CAM Conference, Assemblymember John Laird (D-Santa Cruz) announced that he introduced Assembly Concurrent Resolution 119 on February 14, 2006 proclaiming 2006 as the Year of the California Museum. The resolution declares that California is home to over 1,300 museums that are located in every county and region throughout the state and that serve over 26 million visitors annually. The California Association of Museums invites all museums, museum service organizations, California residents, and local governments to use this milestone to recognize and celebrate the contributions of California museums as they serve the state. This resolution is held in conjunction with the nationwide Year of the Museum efforts spearheaded by the American Association of Museums (see "US House of Representatives Passes Year of the Museum Resolution" below).
