Like most nonprofits, we rely heavily on volunteers to achieve our mission. The following are the committees and individuals that develop our programs and services and support the advancement of our field.

Finance Committee
Our Finance Committee analyzes the finances for the organization, establishes the protocol, and develops the annual budget.

Green Museums Initiative
Our Green Museums Initiative Committee oversees efforts to make our business practices and programs as earth-friendly as possible. The committee provides resources for California museums in developing green business practices, eco-friendly facility management, and sustainable programming.

Government Relations Committee
The Government Relations Committee oversees our advocacy initiatives, including the work of the lobbyist. These duties include monitoring bills and determining CAM’s positions, producing policy statements, overseeing advocacy events, and encouraging involment from the field in government affairs.  Members:

License Plate Committee
Our License Plate Committee is working with CAM’s lobbyist and other state agencies to establish a special license plate that would support California museums and CAM.

Membership Committee
The duties of the Membership Committee are to promote membership in CAM. This includes signing letters to potential membership candidates, calling lapsed members, creating membership promotions, and other duties that help build our network of members.

Multicultural and Emerging Professionals Committee
This committee sets the criteria for scholarships for the conference and workshops, reviews and evaluates the applications, and selects the recipients. A goal is to diversify the work force in California museums by supporting qualified individuals of Latino/Hispanic, African American, Asian / Pacific Islander American, and Native American descent. The committee oversees initiatives that support this goal, including CAM Fellows.

The Nominating Committee selects a slate of nominees for election to fill vacant seats on our Board of Directors. The members of the Nominating Committee are selected by the Past President.
