PUBLICATIONS
Our organization plays a key role in keeping the California museum community informed and connected.
An electronic newsletter, CAM e-News, continues to grow in popularity and has become a valued source for news and information.
We also conduct and publish studies that report the needs of California’s museums, their impact, and general statistics. The Financial and Salary Survey of Museum Personnel has been a valuable tool for museum administrators since 1986. To purchase a study from 2006, 2008, 2010 or 2012 visit Publication Orders.
Our Green Museum Initiative Committee published a summary report about the IGNITE: Museums as Catalysts in Sustainability program. Concurrently, seven institutions convened museum leaders, scientists, environmentalists, community stakeholders, and artists to discuss how to preserve ecosystems and promote healthy communities in their region.
Tomorrow in the Golden State: Museums and the Future of California, a guide we jointly released with the American Alliance of Museums, encourages museum practitioners to develop the habit of futures thinking: scanning for change, forecasting where trends and events may take us, envisioning potential futures and integrating the resulting insights into their planning.
We publish articles based on sessions at the annual CAM conference, written by emerging museum professionals.
In addition, we scour the news to stay abreast of what the media is saying about museums, and produce other publications for the benefit of the field.
