CAM Fellows Articles
CAM is very excited to announce a new opportunity for members and CAM e-News subscribers. At the 2009 CAM conference in San Francisco, CAM piloted a new program, titled CAM Fellows, funded by Wells Fargo. One outcome is that five emerging museum professionals have made content from the conference accessible to the broader California museum field through articles covering 15 different conference programs. In each edition of CAM e-News, one of the 15 articles will be highlighted and made available to the museum field for one month. CAM members can access the articles on a password-protected section of the website at any time. The following is the featured article for the most recent e-News edition:
Beyond the Talking Head: Calling for Atmospheric Change in Adult Programs
Adults like to learn in a variety of ways. Are their learning needs being served through the program offerings of museums? Carin Jacobs, the Director of the Center for Arts, Religion and Education at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, led participants through an interactive discussion which focused on practical ideas about innovative adult programming while looking at the challenges and issues faced by museum educators who desire to expand their offerings for adults without breaking the bank. With the majority of adult programming falling into the “talking head” category, have educators stopped thinking creatively about adult education in museums? This is the dynamic that Jacobs hopes to help museum professionals alter. To read this article please CLICK HERE.
