All information must be submitted via the CTTC Press Release Submission Form, which can be attained by emailing Pettit Gilwee at pgilwee@visitcalifornia.com.
| CAC ANNOUNCES ANNUAL STATEWIDE ARTS CONFERENCE |
The California Arts Council (CAC) is pleased to announce that there will be a one-day statewide conference on the arts for all artists, arts organizations, funders, patrons, and interested individuals. It will be held in Sacramento on Tuesday, March 4. This conference will serve as a forum to focus on "the future" in a broad, imaginative sense. The agency hopes to have "futurist" speakers with discussions and presentations on the general changes and trends happening within our state, how to bring new younger staff into arts organizations as baby boomers leave, the future of the arts and new audiences, arts education, soon-to-be released research on the arts and cognitive development, and California's changing demographics. Specific speakers, topics and sponsors will be announced as they are confirmed. Last year's statewide conference convened over 460 people and the CAC expects an even larger turnout for the upcoming event. The response to the 2007 conference was generally quite positive and the agency will build on the suggestions given in our post-conference survey. As last year, the nominal registration fee will cover lunch, and morning and afternoon refreshments, and materials. To follow developments on the conference, subscribe to the CAC e-newsletter at http://cac.ca.gov/268 or visit the CAC website at http://www.cac.ca.gov.
| MONTHLY MUSEUM POLL: HOW TECH SAVVY IS YOUR MUSEUM? |
Blogs, MySpace, podcasts, YouTube, Second Life, Facebook... Do these terms mean anything to you or your museum? How might these internet-based options or websites change how your museum is sharing content and reaching new audiences? Or, does your museum not have the time or expertise to even consider the use of these virtual resources? Last year was a banner year for museums and the web. Many museums now offer podcasts or blogs on their websites and some are exploring the development of online communities on MySpace, Facebook, or other social networking websites. CAM would like to know if your museum has explored any of these new horizons.
