REGISTER SOON FOR CAM'S STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP

The next workshop in CAM's 2005 Regional Workshop Series is Everything You Ever Wanted Know About Strategic Planning and More. The purpose of this workshop is to familiarize participants with the strategic planning process and its implications for decision-making. A case study will be distributed in advance that will provide background information about a hypothetical museum, its community, and critical issues impacting the museum. During the workshop, participants will be identified as "Board" or "Staff" and will experience the process of designing the framework for a strategic plan using the case study museum. By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed a vision, mission, core values, and goals for the case study museum as well as understand how to write objectives and action plans. The workshop presenters are Adrienne Horn, President, and Stephen Horn, Senior Vice President, Museum Management Consultants, Inc.

MINIMUM WAGE SURVEY RESULTS AND CALL FOR MORE INPUT

There are currently two bills in the California state legislature that propose to increase the minimum wage (AB 48 and SB 862). In March, CAM requested feedback from the California museum field regarding the impact an increase in minimum wage will have on our institutions to formulate our position on these bills. We only received 15 responses. Overall, 53.4% support an increase of some kind, 20% oppose any increase, and 26.7% do not have an opinion. At this point, these results do not support a formal position by CAM. If you have not done so already, we encourage you to take a few minutes to complete our MINIMUM WAGE SURVEY or contact Celeste DeWald, Executive Director, at (831) 471-9970 or cam@calmuseums.org. For additional information about CAM's legislative advocacy on state issues, please visit http://www.calmuseums.org/news/index.html. Your feedback is imperative for CAM to effectively represent the interests of our field.
